Poject Details

Situated between a high, forested plateau and a gentle south-sloping meadow, this house overlooks distant mountains, Lake Washington and nearby cities. The clients’ family-life and desire for privacy, combined with the site’s natural beauty and views, suggested the reciprocal concepts of “refuge” and “prospect.” By embedding the private spaces into the landscape on the north and placing the public spaces along the crest of the hill to engage the natural setting and exceptional views, the design satisfies both aspects of the clients’ program.
