Poject Details
Located in the Salt Lake Valley and set against the Wasatch Mountains and Mount Olympus, the L-shaped house uses an open plan to reinforce family interaction and to minimize visual barriers. Large site walls extend into the landscape to form a courtyard featuring old cottonwood trees. A simple, sloped roof pulls the house together, covering both single and double story spaces and reaching out into the courtyard to create a series of protected outdoor spaces. The sloped ceiling surface bounces light deep into the interior of the house, while clerestory lights bring in eastern light with trellises adding filtered light.
